Skydivers and parachutists and others also use gliding kites with high wing loading; such devices are parachutes: yes, but also are gliding kites and also are machine paragliders and thus gliders. The kiting may begin following a jump from any sort of aircraft or tower or mountain, etc. or from a towing launch.  Formation flying is a special activity in sport parachuting.
